Winter is definitely rearing it’s frigid head and with this season comes snow, lots of it. I don’t really mind the snow in small amounts, it’s actually quite beautiful. I have many fond memories of playing in the snow and having snowball fights with family and friends. However, when it falls in several inches at a time, and doesn’t seem like it will ever let up, it becomes more than a thing of beauty. It can become down right miserable at times.
Not only is snow uncomfortable to the body, in terms of it being cold and damp, but it can become a large inconvenience as well. There has been many occasions when I had to go out during a snow storm or right after one. When this happens, you cannot just walk out the door, hop in your car and go. There are many preparations that have to be taken care of first. These preparations usually begin with me pulling out the Ariens snow blower from the garage. I can usually get the side walk cleared off in minutes. Once the front walk is clear, it makes it much easier to get to the car.
In some cases, when the snow hits the ground it tends to melt a little bit. When this happens, it causes the snow to turn into a sort of slushy. Unfortunately when this happens, this slushy snow cannot be easily blown off. Using the blower actually seems to make it worse. It will either have to be scraped off or it may require some more advanced snow equipment.
As long as the snow is light and fluffy, you can use the blower on the driveway as well. However, if it is wet and compact, a snow shovel will have to be used. There have been many cases when the snow blower and shovel just weren’t enough. In these cases, I have had to contact Power Equipment Plus to help remove the snow for me.
